BREEAM 2011 is the new version for all new build BREEAM assessments and is applicable to new buildings including Offices, Industrial, Retail, Education, Healthcare and Residential.
The 2011 scheme imposes more stringent requirements on the Client, design team, and construction team, and has consolidated a number of familiar BREEAM requirements into a reduced number of overall BREEAM credits, imposing familiar ‘Mandatory’ credits as well as new ‘Prerequisites ’ which if not achieved, result in further credit penalties.
One of the key drivers of BREEAM 2011 is to promote an integrated design approach, with BREEAM being a key part of the design process from feasibility stages. This is recognised with the availability of credits for the use of a BREEAM Accredited Professional from RIBA Stage B onwards.
Kinetic have started a number of BREEAM 2011 assessments as both assessors and acting as an Accredited Professional, and we would be happy to share our experience with you.
