In just ten years, Cobalt Business Park has become the most successful office scheme in the UK. So far, more than 1.25 million sq ft of offices have been constructed, and this will grow to 2.25 million sq ft when the park is complete, making it the largest business park in the UK,
Located on the North of the park, Plot 9B provides a further 52,000 sq ft of offices and was completed in 2009 providing modern sustainable speculative office space. The building includes a number of sustainable and low energy design features, and achieved a ‘B’ rated Energy Performance and Very Good BREEAM rating.
Kinetic Engineers provided Mechanical and Electrical design consultancy, and monitored the Contractor design and installation. Kinetic were also responsible for providing Clerk of Works duties and BREEAM consultancy.

In 2010 Highbridge Business Park commissioned the development of Plot 4A which housed the existing Cobalt temporary accommodation blocks. This would provide an additional 30,000 sq ft of modern office space located above retail units and the new Cobalt Travel Centre management suite. The adjacent Plot 4B site would also include the development of a new 125 bed hotel.
Kinetic Engineers provided Mechanical and Electrical design consultancy, and are appointed to monitor the Contractor design and installation. Kinetic were also responsible for providing Clerk of Works duties and BREEAM consultancy to achieve a Very Good BREEAM rating.

This former cinema site in West Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne was demolished with the intention of building a 4 storey art deco style office building with ground floor retail units. As part of the planning constraints the client is unable to build beyond the height of the previous building. As such this created issues with servicing of the office spaces which Kinetic were instrumental in overcoming during the early stages of design as an integral part of the design team.
A chilled beam system with a raised access floor was used to service the chilled beams and luminaires from the floor void above. The building is to be built to a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ accreditation and green technologies such as rainwater recycling and water conservation are to be incorporated.
Expected project completion late 2011.

Unison are the largest public sector workers union in the country with more than 1.3 million members. Kinetic were appointed as the M & E consultant for the phased refurbishment of the Newcastle city centre headquarters.
This project again provided servicing issues because of the limited floor to ceiling heights of the existing buildings. As such Kinetics design reduced ceiling ductwork sizes to a minimum with night time cooling being provided to the office areas through combined radiator / external ventilation units. Daylight linked lighting control were also provided as well as ongoing consultancy advice on cost savings to meet the demands of the clients budget.
